Recent glitch.. pre-approval bookings reset to instant

Has anyone else experienced this? I rent to traveling nurses and keep my settings set to pre-approve. I had a nurse planning to rebook-so I opened the dates (I did not change the setting to instant) however I got an instant booking. I had to cancel so that my current renter could extend. Of course I was penalized 50$ and unable to rebook that week. Airbnb was not willing to change this for me! Has anyone experienced this glitch?
