Refund allocation for cancelled booking

My name is Moitheri Mahlo, I booked an Airbnb at Umhlanga Durban South Africa for 29 March 2025 till 31 March 2025 through my Airbnb account with email ****, however the booking was cancelled and my account was locked, I have not received the refund yet and I’m in desperate need of it so I can book alternative accommodation. I contacted my bank and they advised me to ask you for an authorization letter or email so that the money can be refunded to my account as soon as possible.

I understand the urgency of your situation regarding the canceled reservation and the need for a refund to secure alternative accommodation. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you navigate this process:

Contact Airbnb Support Directly:

Access the Help Center: Visit Airbnb's Help Center at https://www.airbnb.com/help.

Navigate to Contact Options: Scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Contact Us."

Choose Relevant Categories: Select options related to "Cancellations" and "Refunds" to direct your inquiry appropriately.

Provide Detailed Information: Clearly explain your situation, including your reservation details (e.g., reservation code, dates, property address), the cancellation, and the locking of your account. Emphasize the need for an authorization letter or email to expedite the refund process with your bank.

Monitor Your Email and Airbnb Account:

Check for Responses: Regularly check your email inbox, including spam or junk folders, for any communications from Airbnb.

Account Access: If your account remains locked, mention this in your communication with Airbnb, requesting guidance on how to regain access.

Coordinate with Your Bank:

Inform Your Bank: Keep your bank informed about the situation and any communications you receive from Airbnb.

Provide Documentation: Once you receive the authorization letter or email from Airbnb, forward it to your bank to facilitate the refund process.

Consider Alternative Accommodation:

Explore Other Options: While awaiting the refund, consider looking into other accommodations within your budget. Some establishments may offer flexible payment options or hold reservations temporarily.

Document All Communications:

Keep Records: Maintain a record of all interactions with Airbnb and your bank, including dates, times, and summaries of conversations. This documentation can be valuable if further issues arise.

I hope this guidance assists you in resolving the matter promptly. Wishing you a swift resolution and a comfortable stay during your travels.

Best regards.
