Safety and security

Safety and security

I have been trying for 4 days to reach safety and security with no luck. Apparently, my information was sold and now a third party criminal is renting out my place without my knowledge. Frightening and I feel so stranded. Any suggestions on how to talk with someone from safety and security? Apparently (according to police) this has been a huge problem from Airbnb and I would like to just speak to someone. Any suggestions on how to get help? I have left messages for 4 days and I get an email saying it’s been escalated but when I call for a status report, there is no knowledge of my issue, no case number and no investigating. Each time I call it is like the previous time with a promise of a return call but nothing.

Hello @Debra776

A little confused by your post . According to your profile you're q'a guest not a host?

how was a third party criminal able to access your place? How did you find out?

I immediately deleted my account when Incouldnt get Airbnb support for the issue. I would think you could still look me up by name- phone number- email- address- no?

She called me with questions about my home and said she booked through Airbnb. She sent me a copy of her email verification from Airbnb. Honestly I am completely shocked by the lack concern, compassion or assistance. You potentially have a major security breach. You sent my codes and other personal contact info. Maybe I should ask you how they could have gotten the info. Let me know if you want to see a copy of the fraudulent email with you brand

on it.

@Debra776. Hi Debra, this sounds awful. I am a host, like @Helen3 and others here on this forum, not Airbnb support: we try to help where we can so please be respectful.

So these guests are contacting you but havent turned up (yet)?  Can you locate the listing on Airbnb, if so, report it again and the host. Yes, Airbnb should help more in getting the listing removed but it sounds like you also need help on the ground. While its being sorted I'd invest in a camera or two.
