Urgent Help Needed: Significant Security Breach and Financial Loss

Hello Community,

I hope this finds you all safe and well. Today, I find myself in a situation I never imagined possible and am reaching out to you, our valued community, for support and guidance.

The Situation:

My account has recently been compromised, leading to unauthorized changes including the email and phone number associated with the account, change of payment method, and most distressingly, the change of the payment method resulting in thousands being taken.

Despite immediate and repeated attempts to contact the Trust and Safety Team for assistance, I have received no acknowledgment or response. The lack of communication and resolution has left me feeling both vulnerable and ignored.

My Plea to the Community:

I am reaching out to ask for your support in any form. Whether it's advice on further steps I can take, sharing similar experiences and how they were resolved, or helping this post gain visibility so it reaches someone who can directly intervene, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The financial loss is substantial, but the feeling of insecurity and being left in the lurch by the very platforms supposed to protect us adds a layer of distress that is hard to articulate.

If you have experienced anything similar or have any advice on escalating such issues effectively, please share. Additionally, if there are contacts or avenues within the platform that you know might expedite the resolution process, I implore you to guide me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. The strength of community support is something I have always believed in, and in times like these, it becomes our most valuable asset.

Warm regards,

Jacob

@Jacob908 You must also have suffered an email security breach. Airbnb emails the host when a change is made to the payout destination. Sorry if I have made you more concerned!

Hi J,

This happened to me but the reverse. Someone gained full access to my account and tried booking an experience for 15+ people in Thailand. I caught it in my messages as they were communicating back and forth, and my notifications were going off in the middle of the night. I also had full access to my account and stepped into the conversation flagging to the vendor to not book anything through this account.

I messaged AirBnB and they denied seeing anything suspicious on their end. I’m no cyber geek but my limited knowledge says those messages either came from a familiar (repeated) IP address or they didn’t and if they didn’t then they have a breach. They gave me an email address if I wanted to sue them and said my case was closed.

Sorry I can’t be of more help but you’re not alone.
