WARNING TO HOSTS - ANOTHER PHISHING ATTEMPT - links sent to verify if 'legitim' listing/ confusion over different prices

Received a reservation request with some questions first from a new 2025 created profile, and when I responded to those, received this message, which made me immediately alert and I declined and reported them. Please be careful with any links sent in any airbnb enquiries.

Hello,

We are looking to make a reservation for your property, but it seems we found it several times at different prices.
We would be very happy to make a reservation but we would like to be sure which property and which price is the correct one.
Is this property your legitim listing?

**

I would like to make the reservation now and we are confused!
Waiting for your answer

Hi @Lucie848

Thank you for sharing this recent experience with us!

I wanted to let you know I removed the link itself from your post to protect the wider community, however seeing the rest of the message will be very useful to help other hosts spot similar queries they might receive.

Was this the first time you received this kind of message? I wonder if you could tell us what exactly caught your eye made you alert in this message, so we can keep these clues at the forefront of our minds. 🙂

Have a lovely day,

Emilie

This is what I received this evening: Very similar.

Hi Emilie
No, I received similar spams before with other type of phishing links.  I just generally now know to be careful with any message that includes any links.

Also, these phishing messages are usually preceded by an 'enquiry' with some questions about your listing, where they try to make it seem like a genuine enquiry and engage you in a conversation.

But these enquiries always have strange questions that seem unlikely that those who looked at your listing would ask. For example, and my listing is in London , they would ask 'how far from airport' - well everyone travelling to London knows there are many airports and would state which one. Or 'is there heating' - strange question for a listing in London. Every time I receive weird questions like this, I know it's likely to be followed by a phishing message or someone later suggesting to talk outside the app.

I hope this is helpful.
