I recently stayed in a property that was extremely dirty and not maintained . The railing going upstairs was broken and the toilet seat in the primary bathroom was broken . There were dead roaches in the hallway . The apartment was extremely dirty . There was water damage on the ceiling and it smells like mold .  The bathrooms were dirty I had to clean the tub. The trash that was outside was absolutely disguising , and the only reason why the city has not fined them is because there is a 6 ft fence that blocks it . I didn't complain because I just wanted to make the best out of it since it was only a weekend . I provided a bad review because it was justifiable.  The host wants to say I broke the railing .  ( which is fraud) you cant blame a guest that didn't break it so you can get more money.

I read these comments about how its unfair for the hosts and yet i understand because you do have guests that destroy your property and a host is protected and covered , but what about a guest . The host does not maintain the property , does not clean the property after each guests pay a cleaning fee and then wants to blame the next guest that is actually a good guest . What a way to fraud people. Just because we are the guests does not mean that hosts are right.

Well, that's unfortunate, but if what you describe is what other guests experience, then this listing won't last long.

What a shame you didn't raise all these multiple issues with the hosts and Airbnb as Airbnb suggests on your booking confirmation.

I wouldn't have stayed for one night if the listing was as you described let alone completed the stay.

If you had provided photographic /video evidence which you shared on arrival including of the broken railing on arrival and asked Airbnb to cancel the booking the host wouldn't have been able to accuse you of damaging the railing.
