Energy Grant

Energy Grant

Hi Everybody

Has anybody got anywhere with the £3000 energy grant.

I sent in a quote but received a reply that the quote had to come from a Trustmark registered installer even though the terms & conditions state the contractor doesn’t have to come from the list provided.

There are very few companies in the North East on the list and I can’t find any prepared to come out to quote for installing a new condensing boiler.

@Abi5689 we have got no further than you. Sadly the only Trustmark supplier is twice as expensive as a local firm so it negates any benefit from the Airbnb grant.

You can choose any supplier you want to do the work. But has anyone actually had a grant offer?

  • EST will share with you a list of local contractors. Get a quote from a contractor (the contractor does not have to be from the list provided) and send this to EST by email: sustainable.hosting@est.org.uk

@Tim-And-Alex0 I have applied with my non Trustmark supplier and will see if there is any response.

I fear this is another great bit of PR from Airbnb that will come to nothing in reality.

I haven't even gotten to that stage yet. I've heard nothing since I filled out the form, but I did get a Google Docs confirmation when I filled it out. Maybe I am just further down the list as I didn't do it until early December.

Does anyone know though, when it says hosts must 'apply' by 31st January, does that mean fill in the form by then, or complete the whole application process quotes and all?

Have you got a link to the application form to fill out @Huma0

@Helen3 you can 'register your interest' and fill in the form here:

However, I filled it in a month ago and have heard nothing since.

I still haven't even heard back in the first instance, i.e. I filled in the form and have heard nothing since. Does anyone know who to contact/how to get in touch about this?

Also, I wanted to add that the Government's boiler replacement scheme, which is mentioned in the Airbnb press release about the energy grant, offers up to £5,000 if that's one of the changes anyone was thinking of applying for.

I have no idea of the deadlines/application process though as I haven't had a chance to look into it further.

Same problem here — followed the  instructions and have heard NOTHING. Does anyone know how to speak to someone real rather than waiting for an email to appear? I’m beginning to wonder whether they’re going very slowly to avoid having to fund any Super-hosts at the £3k level, given the end of January deadline…

I attended the Zoom call where Airbnb launched the scheme on 1st November. I completed the online form on the day the website went live - 3rd November. I already had a quote for solar panels. So I followed the instructions "to be fast-tracked email your quote to EST at sustainable.hosting@est.org.uk" and sent my quote the same day.

EST, who are administering the scheme acknowledged my application, but I have heard nothing since!

I have chased EST and Airbnb multiple times (I found the email address of the Airbnb person who hosted the Zoom call). Sometimes I receive an automated response that I will receive a reply within 3 days - but still nothing - over 10 weeks since submitting a perfectly valid application.

As an Airbnb Superhost, the scheme offered "up to £3000 if you sign an award letter before 31st of January 2023" - a bit difficult if no award letters are being issued!

@Lesley480 same with us. Quote provided and response promised but none has arrived almost 2 weeks later. I fear I may never hear from them. As so often seems to happen Airbnb's advertising doesn't match its delivery.

So, I have posted on the EST Alumnae FB group to see if anyone can direct me to a contact at EST who can provide some clarification. I am not hopeful, as this is a group for former employees, but perhaps someone who has worked there more recently might be able to tell me who is overseeing this scheme. I will keep you posted. Otherwise, I might just give them a call next week.

Unfortunately anybody who has sent a quote from a non Trustmark firm the quote won’t be accepted.I finally managed to get a company on the list(ABM ENERGY)to quote for a new condensing boiler and submitted the quote on the 7th January but haven’t had any confirmation yet.
