My place (which I hope to get up and going soon now that our community is allowing STR again) is a one room loft apartment. It is somewhat hard to show the space accurately in photos so I was going to include a floorplan to help people visualize the space and how it is layed out.
Has anyone done this? Here is a pic of my space to show how hard it is to get a full view.
Here is an example of my floorplan,
Hi @Annette76 , Your place is gorgeous and I love the floorplan idea. I tried to make one of these last year, but the app I was using and I did not mesh. I don't have an iPad, so I followed up on your suggestion about "floorplanner." It has been free so far, and very user friendly, but I am just starting the basic drawings and am not far into it. I am currently held up by not knowing the dimensions of some interior walls and the closets, so I'll need to wait until my current guests check out to do some investigating. It looks like you can do a basic 2D plan or get as complicated as you like--3D, furniture, etc. For those people like me who like to imagine themselves in their rental before they arrive, I think this will be a good addition. I do agree with some of the posters that stand alone, a floorplan is not always a great selling point (especially for some properties), but in combination with great photos that reveal the true character of your space, they can help with prior communication--always a plus in the Airbnb world. Here is what I have so far after about 45 minutes of work... I'll update once I get the measurements and finish the first draft. Thanks, Jennifer
Personally, I have looked carefully at floorplans of properties that I've rented. I think the floorplan is a perfect image to include in the photo gallery of each listing. I just have a black and white version that I made on some online free software. It was time-consuming to make but I had fun. A simplified version would also serve as an escape route map that the fire department demands be posted in each sleeping space. I have my escape route maps framed and hanging like artwork near each bedroom door. Here's the one I post in my listing:
I'm not a floor-plan reader but I know others would enjoy the extra view ! It would appeal to people who read house plans and are familiar with the prospective it shows.
