Hello everyone,
I’m new to hosting here on Airbnb and also on Booking.com, but unfortunately, I haven’t found my first client yet. I’m starting to feel unsure if I should continue hosting, as it’s been difficult to gain trust and build momentum.
I would really appreciate any advice or tips from experienced hosts on how to attract my first guests and succeed as a host. Thank you so much for your support!
@Anna-Lyn3. Hi Anna-Lyn, welcome to hosting. I see there are two listings attached to your profile but they appear identical? The first one has no open dates but some better pictures and the second one has open dates and a better description but pictures of an incomplete renovation.
It just looks like you need to finish it off.I'm hoping you can go to the location, or get someone. I'd remove any pics that are dark and show renovations- including in front of fence, for example. Add some greenery, even if its plastic plants, vases, pictures, towels, set the table etc then upload new photos.
You just need to help prospective guests imagine themselves in your place. Good luck.
oh thank you i notice too it was really just im new here and i try to do it now.
Thanks again i just removed it now..
Hi @Anna-Lyn3,
Congratulations on taking your first step as a host! Starting anything can be quite challenging but don't worry, you've come to the right place. 🙂
Our community is full of hosts that are keen to support each other, some of them with years of experience, some newer to hosting like you. In addition to Frances' advice, I'd love to bring in a few other members to get their perspective: @Linda-and-Peter0 @Peace-Stays0 @William2438 @Kenchy0 @Kate2192, what words of wisdom or suggestions do you have for Anna-Lyn?
Thank you everyone -and here's to that first booking which will, without a doubt, come soon! ✨

I let you know again thanks a lot❤️❤️❤️
Congrats on your first guest. There are so many things that go into being a successful host and I'd suggest a few changes to boost your bookings. When you update your listing, try to see it like a guest would and think about what would convince you to book your accommodation.
1. You need as many good photos as possible so that your potential guests can get a real sense of the space. Show the place staged nicely and show any amenities in the building.
If you have a friend or a family member who is a good photographer enlist their help. A picture is worth a 1000 words as the old saying goes!
2. In the description of your space you need to be as accurate as possible but also talk about your space in the context of where the accommodation is in the city and near amenities and attractions that visitors would want to see. This is marketing after all!
3. Create guest books that show the tourist attractions and restaurants in the area. You're not only booking a space for people to sleep, you are giving guests an experience. Be proud of your city and country and your enthusiasm will show!
4. Make sure your check-in and rules are very clearly spelled out. You want guests to feel like they know what to expect from the moment they step off the plane.
5. Now that you have a first guest booked, make sure to be attentive to their needs but not intrusive. Offer them help or recommendations in the area and at the end of the stay remind them to leave you a good review and leave them a good review too. You want to be as close to 5 stars as you can always.
Best of luck!
Bonjour Anna,
Well you will get business but some things I mention below can really help.
I keep it Short and sweet so here is the advice.
- Bedsheets to be in white or elegant print colours.
- Photographs are too too casual
- Greenery if around (Should be In house or very Nearby) show that in pictures
- put basic things like Toaster, Electric Stove, Tea Electric Kettle ,Sugar ,Tea, coffee etc
- Use Offer or Promotion option(Smartly) that AirBNB offers to attract Visitors to Listing.
- Keep checking Listing how you can make it Look better.
- Respond as early as possible to queries.
- Share what's nearby for visitors to Explore
Show them why it's value for Money.
Namaste
