Hello!
As an upcoming host, I have a question about separating rooms for guests in my house. I'd like to provide the guests the main floor which includes 2 bedrooms (with locks from the inside), kitchen, living room and 2 separate bathrooms. As for myself, I'm living in the basement. The basement is being separated by a interior door with a deadbolt. Basically the entrance to the basement first goes through the back of the house next to the kitchen, so it's not a completely separate exterior entrance to the basement where I stay.
My question is, is that still okay? Worst case scenario I may see the guests in the kitchen from a specific angle or if they hang out on the patio in the back.
Cheers
Just my opinion. I would list it as a complete unit. I would mark No for Private Entrance. Then part of it is going to be that shared entry back door. I would make sure you disclose in your ad and take pictures of it.
Is there an entry or hallway or you go through the actual kitchen? That will make the difference I think. Sorry don't want the Host in the kitchen unexpectedly.
Also if there is some form of entry space, on Amazon you can actually purchase a temporary wall kit. Not hard to install and can be opened or closed,
Hi Marie! Appreciate the opinion. There is a front door fir guests to enter (with a code), that I won't be using since I'm entering through the back which leads to the basement. Do I still mark it as "No" for Private Entrance?
The back entry has a small entry room below the kitchen,
The Guests also have access to use the back door to get to your back area. So the front entry is private but the back entry is not. Make sense?
Just wanted to add that I don't have to go through the kitchen when entering through the back. There are a few steps up to get to the kitchen. I stead of taking those I just take the steps down to the basement.
Let me know what you think!
I would yes just disclose and take pictures but you aren't entering their space. I would just look Amazon always has ideas lol. I was helping a Host in 2022 and found the fake wall kits which she needed haha
If you have to enter the actual kitchen then you could list it as a shared space. A shared space can incorporate multiple bedrooms, private bath, private living room and shared kitchen. You can disclose sharing is only passing through not using. Market will be a little tighter but think of something pets, kids, area that you can highlight for your rental.
