household supplies/amenities for longer term guests
Hi, our local zoning requires a minimum stay of 30 days. What amenities would you provide for guests who stay for 30-60 days? (like toilet paper and paper towels for 2 months? shampoo/conditioner for 2 months? laundry detergent? tin foil/plastic wrap? OR do we assume they will be shopping for those types of supplies once the initial quantity runs out? THANKS

Hi @Nora50,
What options did you decide on in the end? Or are you still contemplating the amenities you wish to provide?

We supply enough for at least two weeks. We but in bulk so there’s usually a lot in the closet.
None of our long term guests has asked for replacements. We have offered to restock if something runs out but no one has taken us up on it.
For 30-60 day stays most people are shopping for their own supplies.
What did you decide?

We provide four rolls of toilet paper, a full paper towel roll, enough cleaning agents, and laundry supplies that should last up to 30 days if those tasks are done twice weekly. We also offer enough toiletries, coffee, tea, sugar, seasonings, and garbage bags that also should last for a month.
We have had just of guests that have asked for more supplies during their stay, and depending upon how quickly the request has been made and what's being requested, we may fulfill or decline the request.

@Nora50 When we hosted long term guests, we made sure that they understood that certain supplies were "starter" amounts, and that they should expect to purchase additional supplies as needed. We also included mid-rental cleanings and linen changes in the final price to ensure that our property was being respected. Because most OTAs do not have the ability to add extra cleanings in the initial quote, we would confirm with the renter that they understood that this would be an additional charge and was not optional. Most guests like to have someone clean the bathrooms and provide clean towels and linens at two-week intervals (minimum -- but NOT daily).
Starter supplies were 4 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, 2 rolls of paper towels in the kitchen, hotel size toiletries for guests who did not bring personal products. They were expected to purchase any additional paper products and toiletries.
Kitchen supplies were sugar, sugar substitute, salt and pepper and olive oil. A stack of 50 coffee filters and enough coffee for 4 morning pots (8 cup). Foil, plastic wrap and quart size storage bags. Nothing in the refrigerator. Enough dishwasher pods for 14 loads. Enough laundry pods and dryer sheets for 14 loads. A box of garbage bags. A supply of our preferred cleaning products along with a broom, Swiffer mop with pads and a compact vacuum.
