Hello,
I'm on the fence about if I should be asking for additional cleaning dollars for the extra work to remove stains or buy new bedding - sheets in particular. What is the protocol here?

@Joanna732 We generally consider stained bedding a cost of doing business -- unless of course the stain is a preventable one, like wine on the entire bed or an animal has slept and defecated on the bed. Then we may ask for cleaning or sheet replacement costs.
Women's issues or the overuse of love products is truly annoying, but by wearing gloves when removing linens and using extra sanitizing products in the washer, we just get on with business.
P.S. I use a washer sanitizing product in my washer after I do the linens for each guest turnover, further ensuring that my washer is cleaning properly. It has been well worth the expense of the product, electricity and water.

Thank you. This is what I anticipated for the most part.
Like @Lorna170 , we see accidents as just that...accidents, and don't want to embarrass guests. Our cleaning fee is small, but it is enough to buy extra linens for these occasions.
Just this weekend my parents and I were staying at a hotel in different rooms and when I went to help check them out, they had used a washcloth to clean a coffee spill. I was of course, mortified as I know how hard it is to keep towels pristine white. They didn't receive an extra charge from the hotel and I'm sure that is hotel policy as well.
