Unwanted By Law change

Neighbours in our community have decided to approach the municipality to request a bylaw change to stop allowing short term rentals. Specifically programs like Air BnB. Approximately 55% of the owners in our large tourist area currently participate in short term rental programs like Air BnB. Has anyone experienced this? What if anything did you do or can be done?

Hi Michelle,  There has also been this kind of pressure in Sedona, Arizona.  I think the path forward is to know your city council, attend meetings, send email, remind everyone what a great part of the economy short term rentals are, stay informed, make sure you are paying taxes, and make sure your listings are awesome and problem free.  Also, maintain good relations with your neighbors and make sure they can contact you if something is not working well for them.
