Culver City wants to make a difference during the Pacific Palisades fire

Dear Community,

We've been in Airbnb business for only 6 mo but we want to be of service to the Pacific Palisades community. Here's some of our questions:

1- Whats the average time a guests stayed with you & why?

2- Can you share the pro's and cons of hosting those who are in housing need?

3-Any advice on how to help them though this tough time? WE want to give them their privacy and space yet show compassion and empathy.

4-Did you negotiate the Airbnb payout ahead of time? or does Airbnb determine the pricing? Currently in Culver City 95% of Airbnb's avg $180-250night. Would it be considered selfish to keep the same pricing? How long does it take to get paid?

5- Has anyone had a guest who didn't want to leave? Or destroyed your Airbnb prior to leaving? If so, how did you and Airbnb handle the situation?    Thank you in advance. We are excited to help out. Echo

Hi @Echo43 😊

Thank you for posting this in the Community Center!

Where are you hosting from?

Since you’re asking very specific questions, I would recommend connecting with local hosts through our 👉 Local Host Clubs in your area and asking them your questions.

Warm regards 🌻,

Have you not had any bookings at all in the six months you've been members? Some of your questions concern normal operations of Airbnb, for example, you determine your own price in the price section of your listing. You can list on the .org site if you want to help for free, or you can just lower your price to help evacuees. I've been wanted to relist my own listing to help out, but I found out the city has added lots of requirements and fees, so I was told by Airbnb to consult other Airbnb hosts in my area to get answers to my questions and find out if re-listing was worth it or not. I want to help out, but I don't want to be out of pocket, I still need to charge something because utilities in the winter are sky high for me. Anyway, I joined some Facebook groups, waiting to be approved so I can ask my questions. You can maybe do the same and join a Culver City hosting group, that way they could give you the most relevant info for your circumstances and your area. Good luck! 😉
