Check Your Photos - Bedroom/Beds & Bathroom Count (Photo Tour)

Just a heads up...just noticed this change on the Photo Tour. For those Hosts who don't want to use the photo tour, suggest you check your listings. Noticed Airbnb has added "tasks" to "encourage" the use of the Photo Tour. Many Hosts don't want to use the photo tour, as it highlights the living room (lounge) as the first room displayed to guests in the tour. If you are happy using the Photo Tour, then no worries.

Bathroom Count & Bedrooms/Beds Count

We had one listing that incorrectly showed 2 bathrooms instead of 3 bathrooms. This is because we had not created a Room for the 3rd bathroom. You'll need to have rooms for all the bathrooms, or the bathroom count will not be correct. The bathrooms don't necessarily need photos in the rooms (currently), but you do need to add each bathroom as a room in order for the bathroom count to be correct on the listing. Looks like you'll still need to have rooms created for all bedrooms and wherever you might have a sofa bed (living room) in order to have the correct bedroom/bed count appear on the thumbnail subtitle. You'll need photos of the bedrooms in the bedroom rooms in order for the "Where You'll Sleep" section to display photos of the beds instead of icons.

Tasks

In order to NOT use the photo tour, you'll need at least one room (not the bedrooms) with no photos. Unfortunately, Airbnb will display "tasks" on the Photo Tour Card for you to add a photo it seems. You'll have to ignore that in order to prevent the photo tour from appearing. Otherwise, once you add a photo to that room in response to the red tasks prompt, the system will revert to the photo tour...sigh.

Let Hosts Decide

Airbnb should let Hosts choose whether they want to use the photo tour or not. Simply add a slider button to the Photo Tour Card, "Photo Tour On" or turn the slider off to let the Host choose the order of photos. It is detrimental to many listings to display the Living Room as the first room when unique amenties (fantasitc views, hot tub, outdoor space, etc.) are what the Host wants to highlight first; not the sofa in the living room. With the slider turned ON for photo tour, then probably good idea to add the "tasks" so Hosts add a photo to each room. For those that have the slider OFF, no need to add unecessary "Tasks" to add photos to rooms.

Thanks for your insights. The photo tour does not work for me at all. It is important to me to be in control of the visual narrative of my listing.

Not really…I’m not a fan of the photo tour. I think Airbnb should let Hosts decide if they want to use. This new functionality seems designed to force Hosts to use it IMHO. 😌

You don't need to use the photo tour @Joan2709 . Just leave all your photos in the folder "other room" and you can arrange the order as you please.

Airbnb is messing with my cover photo. Their Artificial Incompetence is seriously stupid and chose the wrong coverphoto all the time. People don't chose my place for a picture of a diningtable or sofa. This is worses with the photo tour as it choses coverphotos for the rooms also.

So I will never implement the photo tour as long as Airbnb is keeping their stupid AI.

@Mariann4

Luv your place!

I agree. I'm not a fan of the photo tour. We don't use it. Hosts should be able to decide to use it or not. The reason for the post is to advise that if you put all your photos in Additional Photos to avoid the photo tour, it can cause some issues. I listed some suggestions to get around the issues with putting all your photos in Addtional Photos.

Where You'll Sleep Section

This section will show bed "icons" instead of actual photos of the beds if all your bedroom/bed photos are in Additional Photos:

Number of Beds/Bathrooms/Bedrooms

If a Host has all their photos in Additional Photos, then makes somes changes to the the number of beds (adds a sofa bed for example), or adds/deletes a bathroom or bedroom, the number of beds/bedrooms/bathrooms displayed in the subtitle will be incorrect if all your photos are in Additional photos.

I have no issues with no photos of the beds but only icons @Joan2709 😊 There are photos of the beds where it should be: in the album.

I have not recently tried adding or removing number of beds. But before when I was twirking the ad there were no problem with the icons changing back and forth.

I'm not surprised that there are even more errors in the coding of this page... 😊
