Richard and all,
Thanks so much for your input. I am happy to see their is a linen fee option. Reading through the many responses over the years, it seems the provision of linens may be based on geographic expectations. We have been vacationing at the Jersey shore for 20 years and have always brought linens. This year we are renting a 6 bedroom home in Cape May and the linen rental fee is $350. It is what it is.
Our Airbnb rental has been booked solid for a year while asking guests to provide their own linens. Covid may play a role in this. As rental and home purchase rates are drastically increasing, this helps keep the property affordable for all. This property idsan 8 hour drive from our home, so I can't afford to lose my wonderful cleaning lady and I do not want to burn her out.
Two options I will consider:
1. Offering a discount for those who DO NOT want linens. This keeps a positive spin on the subject.
2. Provide linens by purchasing 6 sets (Costco has queen linens sets for $14.99). This gives my cleaning lady room to breath. It would involve an increase in the cleaning fee.
