Trouble Managing and Syncing My Website’s Listings with Airbnb

Hi Airbnb Community,

I’m currently using Airbnb to list my properties, and I’ve integrated my website to display the same listings and sync availability using the iCal feature. However, I’m running into a number of challenges that are affecting both my website functionality and the booking experience for my guests.

 

The Setup:

  1. I use a third-party plugin on my website to import Airbnb listings and sync availability through iCal.
  2. Guests can view availability and book directly on my website. These bookings should block off the same dates on Airbnb automatically.

Problems I’m Experiencing:

  1. Delayed Syncing: Bookings made directly on Airbnb take hours to reflect on my website’s calendar, which leads to potential double bookings if someone books on my site before the sync completes.
  2. Partial Syncs: Sometimes, blocked dates on Airbnb don’t appear as unavailable on my website, creating confusion for guests.
  3. Listings Missing Information: When importing listings from Airbnb, some details like descriptions, pricing, and images are not being transferred properly to my website, requiring manual updates.
  4. iCal Limitations: I suspect that iCal is contributing to the sync delays. Is there a better way to ensure real-time syncing between Airbnb and my website?

Steps I’ve Tried:

  • Contacted my hosting provider to ensure there are no server delays in fetching iCal feeds.
  • Increased the sync frequency in the plugin settings (set to every 15 minutes).
  • Manually refreshed the iCal links, but the process is cumbersome and unreliable.
  • Updated both Airbnb and my website plugins to their latest versions, but the issues persist.

My Questions:

  1. Is anyone successfully managing their listings and availability between Airbnb and their website? If so, what tools or plugins are you using?
  2. Are there alternative methods or APIs that allow for better real-time syncing?
  3. How do you handle the import of listing data like pricing and images to avoid constant manual adjustments?

I’d really appreciate any advice, tips, or resources you can share to resolve these issues. I want to ensure a seamless booking experience for my guests and reduce the time spent on manual updates.
