While I appreciate Airbnb efforts to support hosts during the pandemic, I don’t understand why hosts will only get 25% of what’s due to them.
There are 1.9 million Airbnb listings globally. Assuming at least 1/3 were booked (and meet Covid 19 refund criteria), Airbnb could pay each host $400. ($250m / 650k listings)
This is not taking into account bookings that were eligible for cancellation regardless of the pandemic. So if the fund is worth $250 million, why are they only paying out 25%? It doesn’t make sense.
