A WSJ article talks about Airbnb's valuation and that they may try to raise more money. They're going to need to keep many of the hosts who are thinking of leaving if they want to maintain a healthy valuation. I suggest they do the following:
-Survey all cancelled guests to see if they had travel insurance that could have been used had the Airbnb policy been different. If so then give 100% of that amount to hosts.
-If no insurance then give all hosts 50% of what they refunded to guests.
-Change its policy immediately, requiring travelers to use travel insurance, to avoid further drainage of their coffers.
Why? It was Airbnb's failed policy and process that has created the hundreds of comments from hosts who are facing financial collapse.
There is evidence that guests and hosts can work things out in the way Vrbo structured their policy.
IMHO this is the only way Airbnb can save itself.
