So far in New Zealand it has cost Taxpayers in excess of $80 million dollars and rising on a daily basis to accommodate incoming travellers since we have been in enforced border lockdowns.
These people are accommodated for around 2 weeks in Hotels whether they have symptoms or not of Covid19.
Airbnb should be concerned at the losses to there New Zealand business including Hosts & Guests.
Many of these people have not been tested for Covid19 as they don't have any symptoms of illness, besides people also have the Human Right to refuse to submit to medical treatment.
It's time ABB spoke up and did something about the ongoing losses to Hosts & Guests to get things back on track .
There's a need for affordable accommodation for people who have truthfully filled out border control documents before they have left the country they are travelling from saying they don't have known infectious diseases.
New Zealand and pockets of Queensland, Australia are the only two places in the world that we are aware of that people are told they are to stay in Taxpayer funded accommodation when travelling to another country.
It's a known fact that travellers returning to Europe and the UK can go straight to their chosen place of residence including their own home.
We here in Auckland have had Tourism spokespeople, Chris Roberts, going so far as asking for STR Council imposed tariffs to be removed from ABB properties as the economy has been so badly hit from the lack of Tourists.
ABB please do more to help getting the world's economies back up and running and reach out to Governments to exercise common sense.
There's more to the world and public health than Covid19 alone.
Be mindful of the fact there's a Judicial Review before our Courts in relation to the legality of our Borders been closed by the Director of Health that's due to be heard in July.
Meanwhile people are trying to go about life as it was prior to the disruptions we have had inflicted in our lives so please open our listings back up how we prefer to have them so we can accommodate people needing somewhere to stay.
Thanks in Advance
