Airbnb Resolution Fail - Illegal Camera Spying

I cant believe I am writing this, but given how this situation has transpired, I am sharing my story on every platform and speaking with a couple journalists to publish this story publicly.

I booked an airbnb in North Miami and found the host had been recording my partner and I through a hidden camera under the couch. He has footage of us naked, me making confidential calls, and just us living our lives. He did not disclose this, in fact, his listing said there were no security camera on premise. After we brought this up to airbnb, their response was absolutely horrible and we didn't even get a full refund. What the host did was illegal as Florida is a two party consent state. And Airbnb support does not seem to care. The hosts account is still active, and i have not received a full refund.

The facts of our situation:
1) The host RECORDED US WITHOUT CONSENT. This is illegal. Not only that, he possesses footage of us naked, which is also another crime in the state of Florida.

2) The host provided a fake address on the listing. The listing had an address of a building that was down the street. While we were waiting outside the fake address, he texted us the real address. Upon arriving, he notified me that Airbnb was not allowed in the building and if anyone asked, he wanted me to pretend I was his cousin.

3) The host provided a fake name and profile photo in Airbnb. When we arrived, he told us that he made a fake account so that his neighbors in his building would not recognize him. His actual name and the photo was of a different person.

@Moody1

Useally Airbnb is very strict when it comes to undisclosed camera's. (there are several examples in this  community showing Airbnb immediatally blocking those listings to investigate)

Also the other complaints are very serious, showing a host violating several rules. You stated about Airbnb CS : "their response was absolutely horrible ". Something seems to go wrong here ?

@Moody1 Are the police doing any better than Airbnb?

@Moody1 Do you have any evidence you can report to the police? How was all this discovered?

@Moody1  This is highly unusual, normally, even the accusation of undisclosed cameras will get a listing paused immediately, and this is for cameras that are outside of the unit.  If you have proof that you were recorded in any kind of intimate setting I can't understand why airbnb has not banned the listing.  Possibly there is some other elements to the story here.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I am filing a police report. Airbnb has gotten back to me and issued me a full refund. I appreciate your guidance.

Hi @Moody1,

I'm so sorry to hear about that, thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I have asked the Customer Service team about your case and they said they've sent you a message recently. When you have a minute, could you please confirm if you've received it?

I hope you get a resolution to your case soon. Please let me know if you have any other concerns.

Thanks,
