Airbnb Summer Release = New Coke

Anyone old enough to remember the "New Coke" fiasco?

Around 1985 Coca-Cola was losing sales and decided to rebrand under a new formula called "New Coke."

It was a complete marketing failure and after 3 months they brought back the original formula and called it "Coca Cola Classic."

Is there hope we might get an "Airbnb Classic"??!!

@Mike-And-Jane0  i'm reading it as the number of views her listings are getting per day, regardless of what date the person is looking for.

@Gillian166 As per my earlier reply I don't believe that can be correct as the number of views is populated into the future so, without time travel, it can only be the number of views requesting that particular day. OR the number of views stats are just BS.

Where are you seeing future date views. It’s just a 30 day period, in the past. We must have our wires crossed.

@Mike-And-Jane0

I believe @Suzanne302 and @Gillian166 are correct. I took that screenshot on 9th June, which is why it refers to the month directly prior to that, i.e. 9th May to 8th June, and the graph compares the previous month to the one before that (I don't see any dates in the future mentioned, so not sure which dates you are referring to there).

To illustrate, here is a screenshot I took just now:

Screenshot 2022-06-16 at 16.36.06.png

So, as you can see, it now refers to the month before today's date, i.e. 16th May to 15th June. It has nothing to do with the dates the guests are searching for. It shows the total number of views for the month for all three of my listings.

You can see from the graphs in this screenshot and the previous one that my views suddenly sharply declined and are now continuing to slowly decline, but there aren't any more dramatic drops because the views are close to nothing anyway.

@Huma0 if you change the date range by clicking on it and including aug/sept/oct it would be interesting to see what it shows. You can go out about 6 months.

@Mike-And-Jane0

di you have a different “views” option? I can’t see how to select a future date range

@Mike-And-Jane0

But, you literally....can't, do that. The chart is for past views. I'm with @Gillian166 , there are some wires crossed somewhere.

@Gillian166 and @Suzanne302

Quite proud of my new ability to take screen shots. Please see a view of my views from May to August. Surely Airbnb don't have different versions of this in different countries.........

Now if I could just work out how to add arrows to highlight things I could point out where I input dates in the future (but it is just above the 951 views.

Hi Mike, you have mastered the art of taking a screenshot, here are your options for doing something with it.

I am using PC and am not familiar with apple editing software but if you are using PC desktop.

1/.......Take your screen shot pressing together 'CTRL and 'PRTSC' on your keyboard.

2/......Minimise  (don't close) that screen and open a new 'Word' document.

3/......Right click the mouse and paste the image into that new document and your screenshot will appear as a word document, as per this screen-shot......

Screenshot editing 1.png

4/......Next save your picture as a  PNG (portable networks Graphic) file by once again right clicking the picture and this option box will appear......

Screenshot editing 2.png

4/........Click 'Save as picture' and the PNG image will be saved to your pictures folder.

Ok, so that saves a screen image as a picture.

5/......Now if you want to edit that picture in some way, from the pictures folder find that picture thumbnail. Pictures are stored in alphabetical order by the name you have given the picture, if you hold your cursor over each of these pictures you will be able to see the name I have given to each screenshot.

Right click the thumbnail and from the drop-down box choose the option that says 'Open in Paint

6/....You will now be able to edit the picture in any way you want. Just remember click 'save changes' before you exit the Paint program

The only caution to this is I am a dinosaur, I and am still using the Windows 7 program but these features should still operate in a similar way with more recent Windows programs.

Cheers.........Rob

haha that should be an ad, by Apple, on why to buy a Mac.... @Robin4  😅   opening a pic  in Word, oh the horror!
cmd shft 4,  takes a customisable screenshot (i choose the area) it saves as a png to desktop. if you dbl click it it opens in preview and you have editing tools there, or just use it as is. Easy.

@Gillian166

Hey, that's good mate, @Mike-And-Jane0  bought up a good point......there are a lot of contributors here who may not know how to even take a screen shot much less edit it, I gave my old antiquated PC way which a lot of contributors here will still be using! Window 7 is still a supported format and I have seen no reason to update, and I am active on a few internet sites....it works and I am comfortable with it! I don't need to go back to school to survive in this electronic age. Just remember that PC still outsells Apple, just as it has for the past 20 years! There is a lot of us computer 'trench' combatants out there!

What I suggest Gill is, you do a step by step screen editing post for Apple as I have for PC and that way we can make sure anyone here who wants to edit a screenshot will be able to do it. Lots of questions are easier answered with a screenshot that shows us the problem!

It's not a matter of which format is better, they both have there strong points and their weak points....but lets cover all the bases hey!

Cheers.......Rob

i've got 2 different ways to see views. this way doesn't let you adjust the dates.

@Gillian166 Is the data in the two methods the same or different I wonder?

@Mike-And-Jane0  How would we know?
