HI @Mickey40

If the host had not answered your questions, this is a big red flag.

Please call Airbnb, they will refund your money and help you to find another place. Also note that the hosts do not get your money until 1 day after your check in, so the money is being held by Airbnb (if you did everything right and paid via the platform)

Here you have telephone numbers to cal, airbnb

Hi thank you for this information.  I'm not entirely sure if I can trust this message either. As I had comminicated with two different people via the Airbnb.com site regarding my booking in melbourne. We had messaged back and forth several times regarding the booking and when to meet.  So now I have no faith that your message is legit  I will try to dig into this more once I return from my trip. @Mickey40  This is just a discussion forum for hosts and guests where people can ask questions or post information and try to help each other out. No one here works for Airbnb, this isn't Airbnb customer service. @Roberta2 is just a host, as I am, who was trying to give you some helpful pointers. None of us like to hear of anyone getting scammed, whether it be by an unscrupulous host or a dishonorable guest.

This place where you got scammed, did you book it through the Airbnb official website, or did you find it on some other site, and they told you they were using Airbnb?  Because there are many scams out there that set up false look-alike websites that are really hard to tell from the real thing if you don't know how to tell the difference. Can you post the URL to this listing, so we can see what it looks like? Did you pay with a credit card you have registered on the Airbnb site, or were you asked to wire money to some bank account or Western Union?
