Recently a guest's dog damaged the trim around the front door. It was apparent the dog was trying to get out of the house (an unfamiliar environment) as the owner left the dog unattended for 8 hours.
Airbnb refused to reimburse me under their host guarantee. They also refused to allow me to collect for the damages from my deposit.
Airbnb cited that their host guarantee does not cover pet damage.
I always think it's a good idea for hosts who accept pets to have in their house rules that pets should not be left alone at the property for long periods and can be crated say for up to one hour or whatever appropriate to minimise the risk of pet damage.
Definitely worth you familiarising yourself with what is not covered and covered by the guarantee (see Airbnb Help centre).
If it's a high enough amount it might be worth claiming against your home insurance for STRs..
