Before you're temped to boycott...

Don’t throw out the AIRBNB baby along with the bathwater!

Take action, but please DON’T BOYCOTT! There’s something else you can do. Otherwise, you’ll hurt DISPLACED PERSONS in need of housing and mom-and-pop HOSTS like me. Read on!

CONCERN: Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb, has just joined DOGE. There are loud calls to boycott Airbnb. But…

KEY BACKGROUND: There are TWO Airbnb companies: .COM and .ORG. Notice that the second is a not-for-profit company. ORG provides FREE housing for displaced people all over the Globe – Ukraine, LA fires (19,000 people so far), Southeast Georgia floods, Greece earthquakes, and many others. Hosts can contribute $$ or their rental unit to help fund it. Check out their website.

GEBBIA: He’s the Chairman of .ORG. He stepped away from any executive role at .COM years ago, though he is still on the board and an 8% owner.

TAKE ACTION: Skip the boycott and continue to help others who are desperate, and go right to the top. Tell the other co-founders you want Gebbia removed from the .COM Board and the leadership team at .ORG. Email Brian Chesky - the Chairman and CEO of .COM, as well as Nathan Blecharczyk - Chief Strategy Officer of .COM. (See email addresses below.)

Boycotts are effective, but so is deluging leaders with our opinions. The latter doesn’t hurt those who are being helped.

PLEASE SHARE WIDELY!

EMAILS: This message won't post with specific email addresses so please pardon the gibberish...

Nathan at Airbnb dot com

Just an update question. Has anybody who has writte to brian.chesky ****** or to nathan ****** received a reply? I wrote on Feb. 22, 2025 and have received nothing. I will be deleting my host status when I fulfill my last two bookings.

I did not hear back either, but super host support did reply with a message that acknowledged the issue and said the company would be releasing a statement “soon “. I’ve not seen anything since then.

Has anybody got any message or reply from Airbnb? I am about to join the boycott of USA companies, products and customers in the beggining of April if they keep silence. I have been a superhost for 6 years, 4,97/5.

I wish you all wake up and face what is going there right now. USA remind me of Germany and Soviets in 1930's ( I have my masters in international history , specialized in USA). It is shameful how you thew Ukrane under the Russian  bus. It is not easy for USA citizens to travel in Europe anymore. It is the same with Russians.

no reply to my emails sent. I will also be ending my account with Airbnb at the end of this month.

I hear your frustration. Please be thoughtful, though, of who you direct your frustrations to. There are many millions of Americans who are disgusted, embarrassed, despairing and frightened. We’re doing all we can to be heard. It will be a long road. Stay with us.

Also just read this on Forbes:

Forbes currently values Gebbia’s net worth at $8.6 billion, due largely to his 7% stake in Airbnb.

AND still no reply to my emails to both names listed above.

I realise that this causes pain and hardship for hosts, but this is my reason for boycotting:

Large companies - with billionaire stakeholders - wield a lot of power in the world, especially those who have a monopoly in the market. And with great power comes great responsibility.

If we don't vote with our feet, large companies like this think that they can get away with skirting responsibility and there won't be any real change.

I don't mean to hurt anyone's income, but I will not pay money anymore to any organisation that talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk.
