Can you use a dirty mattress if you put a mattress pad/sheet on top?
I stayed in a home that had clean bedsheets, but the mattress itself was completely stained full of yellow and black and brown spots. I would not have known, except for the fact that the host requested that I clean the linens. Needless to say it was disgusting. Is this Just a case of having different standards or would you say it is unacceptable?

@Lorna170 Can you explain the need for a bedbug proof encasement over a waterproof one, as bedbugs can't get through a waterproof cover?

@Sarah977 There is no real need for the bed bug encasement if I have a waterproof cover on the mattress. I had a poor experience with a "professional vacationer" years ago who accused us of having bedbugs and demanding a full refund for her week visit. I was fortunate that the pictures she sent purporting to be her bites were taken from a medical website and her claim was denied. I may be overdoing it, but I protect the mattress with the waterproof encasement, the guest with the clearly labeled bedbug encasement, and the end result is happiness, no false claims and no stained mattresses.

@Lorna170 I've just had to replace the laminate floor in the main bedroom due to spillages by various guests.

@Robbie54 If it's necessary to replace an entire floor, I'd be looking at using tile if possible, as it's fairly indestructible.

@Sarah977 a good idea. However I bought and installed a bathroom laminate flooring, should do the job ok and half the price and time of installing tile.
