@Ilia2743 Airbnb's been quite a mess lately, lots of glitches and terrible customer service, which is probably why you didn't get a notification of the cancellation.
If Airbnb is unable to get the guest's payment, no, you will never be paid for that. It may not seem fair, but that's how it is. Consider yourself lucky- hosts have had guests arrive and stay, only for Airbnb to tell them afterwards "Oh, sorry, but we were unable to collect on the guest's payment".
And as a host, I would never accept a 25 day reservation made 2 days before the check-in date. In fact, I don't accept last minute reservations at all, because those are the ones that most often result in failure of payment.
Not to mention, a guest who plans so poorly that they are scrambling to find a place for 25 days 2 days before check-in, isn't a guest I want. There could be legitimate reasons why a guest may find themselves in that sort of position, but it's not worth the risk to me.
