Cockroaches at my Airbnb

After 21 days of waiting for airbnb to get me an answer for my case, the outcome was this :

1. I contacted airbnb September 18, the day of my arrival.

- told them the apartment was full of cockroaches and bees.

- some kitchen accessories were not working like oven

- everyday issue with internet

2. They asked me for proof

- sent them pictures, videos and chats with host

3. They offer me 50% of for nightly cost from September 18 to October 8.

- according to them they were 50 dollars short

- i did the math and told them they were 50usd short.

Conclusion

Airbnb customer service got back at me saying, "they assumed i didn't wanted the refund" so they cancel the refund.

Im still waiting my refund in an apartment full of cockroaches and a baby is with me too.

What can i do?

You were offered a 50% refund, but disputed the amount calculated. Then Airbnb cancels the refund.

You stayed in the appartment and i fear the case is closed now.

We (the community) can not check if your calculation was correct or not.

Maybe post some figures here.

But is very difficult to reopen a case at Airbnb once it is closed.

Forgot to mention

Its under airbnb policy to contact them if there is health sanitary problems.

And they offer a discount and then rejected just because they assumed?

No. Things don't work like this.

People with issued on their mind and head does work like this.

I did the math. I didn't know we couldn't do the math with airbnb customers service.

But i won't stop here.

They messed with the wrong mother, leaving me and a small baby in an apartment full of cockroaches and bees.

Why are you still there?

Why were you still there on September 19?

If you had left on September 18 you would have had a full refund.

Let me guess… you you couldn’t find anything else at that price?

Brian, i paid 1,000usd for 1 month rent

And now apartments here are 5000usd per month. Insane right?

If airbnb have a sanitary policy they should be able to comply with that

Its my host violation not mine.

I don't have more money to pay for another Apto just because....

You understand me?

Airbnb customer service also blocked all chats with no reason, like we arw being discriminated for being Latin Americans

@Daniela1900  Oh no, you don't need to play the discrimination card. Airbnb customer service  is equally abyssmal for both guests and hosts, no matter where in the world you are. Male, female, black, white, American, Mexican, or Asian, everyone gets the same lousy service.

Fire the people who is doing bad customer service. Playing around families and families money.

They are messing with the wrong mama here!

@Daniela1900  If you continue to stay somewhere, you can't also expect to be refunded. If you want to be refunded, you needed to cancel and leave.

I can't cancel my reservation.

Because if i do that without airbnb approval they will reject the refund.

I asked airbnb to change the date and never did.

You’re getting what you paid for.

Buy a can of RAID and a couple of Roach Motels. (Roaches check in but they don’t CHECK OUT!)

If you manage to get this host banned from Airbnb you will have succeeded in making it even more difficult for economically challenged people to find housing.

I would recommend that the host warn guests about the presence of insects but I suppose that most people in that area expect it. In some apartment buildings it’s impossible to exterminate them.

I have had to live in places like that in Texas, Georgia and California and I was grateful to be able to find something I could afford.

I knew there would be bugs and I dealt with it.

It’s a whole lot better than sleeping on a park bench, which I have also done on occasion.

Incidentally, after what you did to the Airbnb In Medellin, I’m surprised you’re so squeamish.

I’m also surprised that anyone else will rent to you.
