I primarily host long term guests and have never had an issue with this, but I also have the security of knowing I am very well protected by the law here because it's my primary residence too.
I don't know how the tenancy laws apply in Florida. It seems to me that it varies from state to state. Perhaps some local hosts can chip in to advise you.
However, I would suggest that you do some research online to acquaint yourself with local laws not just regarding tenants' rights and whether they apply to guests booking via STR sites, but laws about renting STR in general as, in some places, you need to be registered or have a permit and there are other restrictions. These can also change so are worth keeping an eye on. I imagine your local government must have this information somewhere on their website.
