Today we had a guest book and never approved the booking but it went through as an instant booking

we had already booked someone in privately so this led to us being double booked 

why did we not have to confirm or approve the booking

how do I ensure that this I set up on our system to prevent this again

@Julie3255  You need to change your settings and turn off Instant Book, changing it to "Guests must send a booking request". And you also need to sync your calendars with the other calendars you use to book through other means, or immediately manually block dates for dates you book through methods other than Airbnb.

@Julie3255 do as @Sarah977 advises; I checked your listing and it is still open for instant booking.
