Covid 19 cancellation and Host refuses to refund

Due to the Covid 19 the Olympics has been postponed. I had to cancel my Airbnb in Tokyo and now my host is refusing to refund me my money. Everything I have read states its up to the host if they want to refund. He keeps stating he is following Airbnb policy. What do I do? This is a lot of money that I could really use.

Probably best to claim on your travel insurance

Where do I find the travel insurance information?

@Peter2637  - I meant the travel insurance that I assumed you bought for your trip in case you had to cancel. I was taught many years ago that I should buy insurance for any risk that I couldn't afford to cover out of my own pocket.

Of course everyone has to make sacrifices during this crisis, but why would you expect your host to absorb all of YOUR loss? You could and should have taken out insurance against cancellation.

Hosts cannot do that! Even though it's potentially a livelihood, rather than just a period of enjoyment.
