Do not fall for this booking scam. Decline and report account immediately.

We just got the below 14 day booking and message:

”We would like to book your accomodation through the airbnb but we will not check in. A person is paid for accomodation, but he will live in another place. You will take 35% of the payment to yourself and send me 65% after recieving money. Telegram @Alanstory“

I declined and reported the account immediately.

Thanks

Would anyone really fall for this?  This is always my question with these weird scams, like the one where the mark is given super detailed instructions on how Airbnb will meet them with the key, blah, blah and they send their check to the fraudster, it boggles  my mind anyone would believe some of this stuff is legit.

@Mark116,

There is a guest who currently has at least three posts about how she's been scammed twice for a rental in the Scotsdale, AZ area.  So, yes people are still falling for these types of scams.  Unfortunately, those who fall prey to these scams are people who will listen to/take the word of others instead of doing research on their own.

Don't just believe what I say, check the Airbnb Help Center

I just received a booking request just now with a similar format as yours:

"Hello Dear! Sorry for the delay. The fact is that I work in corporate bookings. We have a huge number of tourist destinations, but no one will go on this business trip in connection with Covid-19. But the funds have already been allocated. I would like to offer you to book your accommodation via Airbnb. Nobody will live with you. You will take some of the funds for yourself, and send some for us. The booking will be made by a real guest, for real money. Is it potentially interesting to you? I can tell you more about how we work and you will understand that everything is fair and safe."

I've received one before from a different account, and I ignored it because it sounded sketchy but I never thought it was a popular scam tactic until I read your post. This is a lifesaver, THANK YOU!
