Does Airbnb collect money for cancelled reservations if Reservation is listed as not Flexible

We had a guest cancel a reservation that may have been listed as not Flexible (not 100% sure) And they told us that Airbnb took the money and will not refund her. Can anyone shed some light, does the host receive any of this money or does AirBnb retain the funds?

When cancelled by the guest the cancellation policy calculates the refund (if any).

From the outcome both guest ad host receive a message.What is not refunded to the guest,is paid to the host (except Airbnb Service fees)

A refund for a cancelled reservation is calculated based upon the cancellation policy that was in effect at the time of booking.  Be sure to book and consult the Airbnb Help Center to become familiar with policies and processes.

@Yesenia57 if, under the cancellation policy, a host is entitled to some of the booking fee then they are paid at the point they would have been paid had the reservation taken place.
