Don’t use Airbnb. Be careful!

Don’t use. When the host cancel a reserve, Airbnb only says ok e don’t give any assistance to the guest like me, that reserved three months ago and today, when the host Isabella canceled to give the flat to friends because is carnival, Airbnb only said goodbye. Now the prices are three times mor expensive and I can’t pay. I’ll the money paid on the flight tickets. Airbnb says that don’t have responsibility, but in the law of Brazil has. But Airbnb want only the taxes and give back to the guest, like these children that died in Chile. Let’s exclude them from the commerce. We can!

@Hugo488 I'm sorry this has happened to you. I've experienced the same thing as a guest, it was quite a hassle.

If the host genuinely canceled your booking (rather than asked you to cancel it), their listing will display an automated review indicating that they canceled a guest, their calendar will be blocked for those dates, and they will have paid a penalty fee. Usually Airbnb gives the guest a full refund plus a credit worth 10% of the room rate to apply to a replacement.

As you've pointed out, this compensation is inadequate for the cost of last minute accommodation during a major event. I hope you had the foresight to obtain travel insurance.

@Hugo488  The host has behaved outrageously.

Give Airbnb a call back. Ask then to help you find alternative accommodation snd for additional compensation as it is Carnival and the 10 per cent credit given doesn’t cover the additional costs.
