Hi everyone~
While hosting, hosts come across a variety of guests having different expertise or areas of interest! Our hosts have shared that they often receive guests who are either theatre artists, interior designers, photographers , chefs , outdoor enthusiasts and so on.
As we look forward to the weekend, I had a fun question for you! If you could choose, who would you rather choose to host:
📸 would you choose a professional photographer who takes stunning photos of your accommodation just for fun?
OR
🍲 would you like to host a chef who surprises you with a delicious thank-you meal?
We're eager to hear your pick!😉
The Chef could be really funny 😍
Definitely @Federica900 😍!
What kind of guests do you usually get? Are they usually office workers who came on a business trip or avid travellers? 🎉
We get both, equally delightful!
Also many others on your list and not!
Need I say how much we love that diversity? 😍
That's fantastic @Kitty-and-Creek0 😍 It must be such a great opportunity to know other people and learn more about their expertise.
What have you learnt from these wonderful guests with different career backgrounds!
Did you notice anything particularly interesting or striking about these guests?
A chef with a hobby of photography. 😊
That's definitely a smart choice @Muslim4 ! 😉
Have you ever had a guest with an unexpected skill that ended up being a fun surprise?
Not that I know about, but perhaps I just wasn't curious enough to ask.
Once I had a guest who sells Kigurumi. I didn't know what it was, now I know. 😊
Hi @Muslim4 , this is the first time I get to know that those stuffed onesies are called Kigurumi 😝 It's great to learn wonderful things from our hosts 😍
@Bhumika The ABBA tribute band was great to host while they were touring the UK but our best guests were the family who invited us to a lunch which was a curry banquet!
That's super interesting @Mike-And-Jane0 😍 Hosting the ABBA tribute band must've been so much fun! Did they also invite you to their jamming sessions when they were at the listing?
Invitation for a lunch sounds like a warm gesture from the guest's side 🎉 Do you often get guests who are open to connecting like that, or was this a rare experience?
@Bhumika I think I would have the Photographer stay than the Chef. The re ason being
Photographer could give me tips on how or the best position for a photo. Or possible leave or send a photo of my cottage that I can use.
They could promote a local could promote a local spot for best location for photos.
On the other-hand the Chef could invite you for a meal but from my experience with guests who have enjoyed cooking have left odours from cooking spicy meals.
There is often more items, utensils, pots and pans to check if left clean.
i enjoy all my guests but I have found it pays to be more vigilant with all items in the kitchen especially the backsplash, walls and benches to make sure there is no splashes, stains or cut marks left.
Sadly, I am a clean freak - many years of working in the operating theatres and take pride with CLEAN in my reviews.
Hi @Laurelle3 , that's such an interesting take!
Since you're dedicated to create a neat and clean stay for guests, I'm curious what would be your tips on dealing with lingering cooking smell? 🙂
@Bhumika that is a very interesting question.
I have never personally had to deal with this issue until last week when we had guests stay and loved cooking. The fragrance or odour was of curry and spices.
It took about 12 hours after there departure to have the smell of last night dinner removed or a faint smell.
All I could do was to have all the doors and windows open and I am sure the odour was in the curtains and lounge, too.
Everything was removed that could be, and I washed all the surfaces with an eucalyptus essence in soapy water.
My normal routine is to remove all bed linen between all guests and the pillows are aired and pillow protectors washed.
The beds are aired for at least 2 hours before being remade.
I am the cleaner and my cottage gets a terminal clean in between guests. I have worked as a nurse and this is the way way I have practiced for 37 years I trust nobody and their lifestle of cleanliness. Yes it is time consuming but I am happy with the end results.
Some would say it is extreme but I know my cottage is clean.
Going back to smells or odours, we read about this on this page and other Australian Airbnb pages. In 4 years this is the first time. it has happened to me. Lucky for me I have day of departure the cottage is blocked off and day before arrival night blocked off which gives me a small window of time if there is a problem
All I know is that I would not like to be staying with these odours inside at any accommodation.
Sorry Bhumika I really didn't answer your question.
