OK, another pick........ 1-C to 4-F.....'Lair'!

We live in a short street which leads nowhere with a couple of dozen houses and we do get along with each other well.

Along with a lot of other Aussies I celebrate Australia Day, the 26th January each year! But my way of doing it is by holding a street luncheon dinner each year for a dozen of the neighbours.

Being the middle of summer here, despite the fry-pan in hand,  I don't serve anything hot.......but there is a decided Aussie flavour to whatever we serve.....

Got to have the patriotic table decorations

Wouldn't be Australia Day without one of Ade's pavlovas

We do what Australians do, we eat and drink heaps in our lovely carefree environment and thank God we live in (what we feel is) the best country on Earth.

Hi @Robin4, what a celebration! 😍 Everything looks delicious, and it must be a wonderful gathering with all the neighbours. Do you celebrate this day in a different neighbour's house each year, or do you always host the event?

Hi Paula, the Australia Day dinner is something I started 10 years ago and I host it here on our property each year because, apart from being the biggest loud-mouth in the street with an opinion on just about anything, I am a reasonably competent cook, and I have the capacity to stage it under cover over a couple of tables.

@Sophia has asked me to replicate this theme as a contribution in the 'Week' of Celebration so I won't elaborate further here.

On another topic Paula, quite often I will get a notification that you have mentioned me in response to some other post but when I click the notification it takes me to the relevant thread but, there is no response on that thread from you.

Is this some anomaly in the system?

@Paula what a great Idea about celebration from around the world 🌎. As from my previous words Australia is a mixed up country made up with representatives from 190 countries.

When looking at the calander for cultural and religious dates are.

In January there are 16 celebration days.

February 7 days.

March 11 days.

April 25 days.

May 11 days

June 11 days.

July  8 days.

August 6 days.

September 12 days.

October 10 days 

November 10 days.

December 7 days 

I think many people are unaware of these days that are celebrated in homes with family and friends in Australia

The celebration that most people recognise are the ones that are published in the media. The sad thing is some people think of it as making money and these days have become commercialised.

Paula, I am sure other hosts around the world 🌎 can contribute and help with your suggestion of celebrations.

As most of the Airbnb hosts are adaptable.
