I am writing just to say hello to other AirBnB hosts and hostesses. My wife and I are located in Vermont, USA and have been Superhosts for quite a while. I feel honored to be included in that group and it definitely inspires us to want to maintain that status by finding ways to please our guests. Some simple things that we’ve done are to buy a nice gas grill so that folks who are grillers can be outside in the fresh Vermont air while they are preparing meals. This is in addition to a fully equipped kitchen which people really appreciate. Not too long ago I put myself in the place of someone coming to Vermont to relax, enjoy and do things that they don’t do at home…So I bought a couple of decks of cards, a Scrabble game, a chess and checker set and couple other games that are fun for two people. I also have a small but excellent sounding Bose bluetooth speaker so people can listen to music or news or podcasts. We don’t have a TV but people can watch Netflix, Prime, etc. on their laptops. The very special gift that I can offer is a 1929 Steinway grand piano that has been completely refurbished (all new action parts, new soundboard, new pinblock, etc. It is a gorgeous instrument that was passed down from my grandparents. We’ve had several guests, many of them return guests who come to play or compose music while looking out the window at the hills of Vermont. My wife and I love to share our cottage with folks and do all that we can to make them feel welcome whether they are here to ski, play the piano, play Scrabble, to hike, to take in the beautiful foliage in the fall…and so much more. My only suggestion to other hosts is to welcome your guests like you want to be welcomed when you travel, anticipate their needs, let them know that you are present for them but don’t want to interfere with their time away from their day to day lives. Be present and be mindful!
