Guest- refund

Hello everyone,

I hope someone will have a resolution for me.

I rented  a condo for a month but had to leave it in 2 days because my father broke his heap ( he is 87). The reservation was non refundable so I just let it go. Airbnb told me to cancel and they said nothing g can be done. But a couple of days ago I found out the owner rented it out after I left. I called Airbnb and they contacted the owner and he refused partially refund me. 
Any tips?

How did you find out he rented to someone else @Emilia456 

In your situation I would claim the cost on your travel insurance.
