Guest with bad review

Hi all, is there a way to contact an host who did a very bad review to a guest that now is asking ti book my apartment? The guest is insisting to book but I’m not sure to accept it because of the review and wanted to understand what happened really to make my decision. Thanks for your feedbacks.

@Eleonora-and-Walter0

You can contact any host via the "contact the host" link on their listing (inquiry), but if it is not a question regarding a potential booking, most hosts useally will not appreciate that. You can mention to the guest you noticed the bad review and see how they respond.

if in doubt about accepting a guest, better stay safe and skip that one.

@Eleonora-and-Walter0 I have declined to host such guests. That is what the review is for, no matter how insistent the guest is, decline! No need to send a message to the former host.

I once declined such a guest and they sent in another request to book immediately, resulting in 2 declines for one date from the same guest. My acceptance rate took a big drop. I had to report and block the annoying prospective renter.

It’s happening more or less the same…… he asked for a 2 months stay, he decided the budget and now is negotiating price and number of days for the stay. I guess it’s better to decline however this means that if a guest gets a bad review is out even if sometimes maybe it’s not their fault.

Two months is a long time to be stuck with a gust who has a bad review already. Most hosts here are very reluctant to leave a negative review, they are afraid to scare off potential guests. If your prospective guest has a review that you do not approve, and would not like to experience in your place, do not accept! There are lots of renters out there! I had one cancel for no good reason at all only a week out, and we are already rented for that weekend. I think that it is better to have no renter than a bad one.🙂

Thanks a lot for the advice. You are right, I’m going to decline.

That is the reason we leave an honest, factual review. If a renter has done something to get a bad review, he does not deserve to rent any of our properties. He can go to a hotel, he can sleep on the street for all I care, he is not coming to my house and repeating his activities which he has already demonstrated are his habit. It is my hope that when I leave an honest review about the renter who deserves it, the other potential guests read it and will either not come to our place if they want to do such things, or be glad to come to our place because we do not allow bad actors here.
