Holiday Hosting Magic: What's Your Special Touch?

As the holiday season approaches, I'm feeling the festive spirit and wondering how all of you are planning to make your properties shine even brighter during Christmas and New Year's Eve!

Are you adding some special holiday decorations to create a cozy atmosphere for your guests, or any clever strategies you've got up your sleeves to welcome more guests during the holidays? Whether it's a themed welcome basket, a personalized holiday card, or a creative promotion, I'd love to hear about it!

I think this is a good balance! No guest asked me to do anything, but maybe I'll get a garland or something, just to make something different for the guests.

Hi @Calvin173

As you're not a host can I ask why the interest in how hosts prepare their homes for the festive season.

Keep it simple, Christmas is a rough time for some people. Personal touches are best, low key style, don’t over do things with decor, keep it humble and decorate with your own creations. Not tasteless like department store. Let the spirit of your guests breath a little.

I’m only a few months away from being guest ready, and most likely will shut down for Christmas, unless I can figure a way for return customers to like call me and request a booking for holidays. In that case I will supply some small crafts that they can make there own decoration, and take home with them. Could be a Christmas they would want to remember, like a miracle kind of thing.
This is just my two cents.

Hi @Calvin173,

I put a Seasons Greetings window cling up (trying to be mindful that some people don’t celebrate Christmas while others dislike Christmas, etc). I also have a small LED Christmas tree that changes colors, provide gluhwein tea, hot cocoa, sparkling cider, and plan to put some little stockings in the unit, and some lights with garland in one window. Nothing too much but a little festive cheer.

I think it would be awesome to have an area of the airbnb very decked out, But that is me, I live Christmas decor.  I remember in elementary school we would decorate our doors for class, wrap them up in wrapping paper, stockings, art to bring the Christmas cheer. Perhaps a wreath in the door may be a nice touch?

This is just wonderful! How did it go? Any feedback from the guests?

@Calvin173 I had two guests who appreciated it and I was about to put up more but my gut told me our next guest didn’t like a bunch of decorations. It turns out I was right when I asked, so just a window cling, small led acrylic tree, gluhwein tea, cocoa and sparkling cider for now.

How did your guests like your decor?

Oh that's nice @Lorina14 , I think we should trust our guts almost every time hehe. We know the exact context of our situation, better than anyone else.

About my guests... They enjoyed it without too many surprises, it looked exactly like the picture. But one of them mentioned that the smell of the freshly baked cookies reminded him of Christmases spent at his grandmother's house. That made me happy, I'm gonna repeat that next year!

@Calvin173 mmmm freshly baked cookies, yum! Sounds like a winner indeed!
