I want to invite another couple to stay with us

Upcoming reservation of 2 people and 2 dogs. 3 nights.

"HI Laura:

I see you have a capacity limit of 4 living beings. I would like to invite another couple to stay with us for one or 2 nights. Is that OK?  Thanks."

Me: "Hi guest-

Thanks for checking! We have our stated capacity limits for insurance and agreements with our cleaners.  So unfortunately we would not be able to accommodate another couple on this reservation."

Bets on whether the other couple shows up anyway.

@Laura2592 Math is hard.

@Colleen253 apparently so.

@Colleen253  Don't know if you ever watched "That 70s Show", but it was often quite funny. Your post reminded me of the episide where the ditsy sister walks into the house looking dejected, plops her books down on the table and says,  "Cosmetology school is so hard! "

@Laura2592  It's sad to think that dog owners don't see them as "living beings" but maybe the language needs to be more direct.

Total of 4 humans and/or animals

4 oxygen breathers

4 owners of any combination of two or four legs

4 consumers of people food and/or kibble

Maximum 8 eyes allowed  (haha, that would be one spider - arachnids welcome, but only one)

@Michelle53 four butts lol!

I'm making an infographic to put in my images with all the possible combinations of pets and humans to equal 4. Otherwise we can start tacking on a pet fee.

@Michelle53 “8 total eyes” lol!

Foe those who are numbers challenged, that could be disastrous. @Laura2592 would definitely be dealing with more cases of too many people showing up.

@Colleen253 or just a bunch of one eyed dogs/humans with eye patches. Maybe a pirate convention!

Yarr Matey!  I was thinking the same thing.  Extra barrel of rum for you tonight!

You’re assuming facts not in evidence.

Maybe the second couple are dead.

@Brian2036 Halloween *is* coming up!

@Brian2036  I'm struggling with how to ask the question re "living or dead".

Q: How will you be travelling ?

A: By car, 4 seated, 2 in urns

Do you have secure parking for a double-wide hearse?

I’m a little nervous about being accused of discriminating against dead people.

A lot of people are dead already and others are making plans to join the group, so Airbnb might not want to lose out on that market.

Short-term crypt rentals could be an attractive alternative for those who delayed Granny’s long anticipated final vacation just a little too long.

@Laura2592 your market is begging you to up your guest count... So, what would make it worth it to you?

Base pricing for 2 guests: x

Pricing for more than 2: x + y, x + 2y, x + 3y, x+ 4y

Over time my additional guest fee went from 10 to 20 to 25 to 35 to 50... I got less extra guest stays as the number went up, but that was pretty much the whole point.

And, yes, what if you did start charging for pets??? My dog sitter charges $1/minute for walks, $5/hour playtimes, $70/day boarding and $1-2/pound for baths. People with pets are spending money on them every time they turn around. It's unfortunate that ABB makes it an after the fact PITA, but it would be entirely reasonable to charge.
