I had an worst experience with the Airbnb Osaka host after my multiples usage of Airbnb.
I had thought that it would be a wonderful spring cherry blossom trip down Osaka but the emerge of COVID-19 had caused postponement over my trip to autumn. I had booked for a non cancellation house in Osaka, Tsuruhashi and because of being known of the non cancellation, I had made the efforts to contact the host in February 11 to ask if they could accept change of schedule to mid of Nov 2020. I did not gave any firm date but i had mentioned would be somewhere around mid Nov and they had said that due to the far period away, there are unable to book for me now but could instead do this offline and they could reserve for me. I had got this reply and hence it give me assurance that the change is able and on the 5 March i had messaged them for them to reserve offline for me for the date of 4-7 Decemeber 2020 and now they told me that they cant change any date to year end as they are not sure if they will be operating till the year end as the owner is considering to sell the house. I realised they are agents of several house and i was very angry with his statement. He then gave me another option of looking for another house for me and i agreed to him and he even call me to assure me that he will look for the few houses that is equivalent to my current house or even better one. I did not reluctant but i am just asking for house that shall be same standard as what i had selected and not too far away. He agrees to all and after 2 days he does not respond to me at all after proposing 2 houses which is much more smaller and further. I politely asking for more option if available and from here he did not replied anymore messages up to now.
I lodge a complaint to Airbnb and Airbnb contacted the host and the host now say that they will not agree to any cancellation refund, and any change of dates and change of house. I was really frustrated over this as all along the way they had been agreeing, breaking words and they are the one proposing for a substitute house and now they are saying non of the above they will be do. I am really very very very much disappointing over this as this at least shall not be the way of hosting and irresponsible and irresponsible. Airbnb told me they cant do anything since the host rejected to have any discussion but i really wonder that shall Airbnb taking steps over such host over their attitude. this totally brings down the quality of Airbnb and it really reflects that even i had lodge this issue to Airbnb i was not able to gain my consumer right. i am not asking for anything but I think the way the host is doing is not correct especially over his breaking in promise and responsiveness! now i can only wait for the update of the Covid 19 policy if to get refund from Airbnb. But afterall, the host is the most disappointing part in their service and attitude.
