Has anyone successfully found out why airbnb took away the "add notes' feature? Hosts like myself used it to track why dates...
I was fresh out of Grad School, working in Mallorca. Omar, my boss, and I were walking in what he considered 'the most profitable park in the world per square meter.' He was right—the island's airport was the busiest in Europe during the summer season. He told me something I'll never forget: 'Remember, Carlos: We work where people enjoy themselves.'
Until then, I had never thought about it from that perspective. He was absolutely right.
We had an important responsibility. Hospitality and leisure are key elements of people's free time, sharing a deep connection with personal well-being and social connection.
Quality leisure time significantly affects our physical and mental health, reducing stress and facilitating social interaction through:
As we approach the holiday season, I wanted to humbly share this reflection with all my fellow hosts around the globe.
We have an important role. We contribute to our guests' most precious time: their leisure time—the time they work for throughout the year.
This is when they experience joy, happiness, adventure, connection, discovery, togetherness, meditation, and love. During free time, people become who they truly want to be.
We get to contribute to these moments. I can't imagine a better calling. We work during their most important time. It's a significant responsibility but also an incredible privilege.
My best wishes for the holidays. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, prefer solitude, or simply work, may you experience generosity, unity, joy, and peace.
Hi @Carlos-Miguel2,
Apologies for the late response!
This is a wonderful reflection, thank you for sharing it with us. The part you play in your guests' holidays is undeniable and all the work you put in to ensure they have a great time in your homes is precious. Do you have any tips on how to best approach that responsibility, and privilege, as you put it? How do you make your guests' stays special?
All the best for the new year 🌟
Emilie

Hola @Emilie and Happy New Year to Everyone!
I’m so glad to have the opportunity to share this with you all! Hospitality is truly a privilege, and as you know, there are countless details involved in making guests feel welcome.
Before our last Hosts Meeting in Seville, I found myself wondering about the same question: How can I express this idea in practical terms so that hosts can incorporate it into their daily routines? To address this, I created a slide for the presentation with the following message:
Love It
Love Them
With that mindset, everything becomes effortless: offering a piece of fruit you know will taste amazing, having a friendly chat, or suggesting a walk or a meal—it all flows naturally when approached with love and care 🙂
