my host cancelled the stay within 24hours of booking. She told me that she did not get the full refund back - in fact she said something about different exchange rate between booking and refund.
is this airbnb procedure to have different exchange rates for payments versus payouts? Thanks for help 🙂
As the booker and canceller doesn't pay direct to you, it's for the best for you to refer them to contact airbnb help to get a full explanation and breakdown.
You don't have access to payment and refund information so you are in no position to clarify.
It's tempting to get involved, to be helpful, but here you aren't able to assist and as the booking is cancelled it's no longer a productive use of your time. My advice, politely disengage.
really appreciate your feedback. I agree with you, however I asked my guest to cancel and told them they get full refund. Now I want to clarify if my guest should contact airbnb and if there is hope to get the remaining amount refunded. Otherwise i would pay for the missing amount.
@Komang-Pamela0 The remaining amount might also be Airbnb's service fee, depending on how far from the check-in date she booked. And some payment methods also incur bank transfer fees that aren't refundable, irrespective of fluctuations in exchange rates.
Either way, I would strongly discourage transferring any additional funds - this is completely something the guest has to work out with Airbnb.
