Local lockdown reservation change

Hi

Brand new to hosting on Air bnb. Ive got a guest who's due to stay in 2 weeks time but can't travel due to a local lockdown. Air bnb seems to have its EC policy updated to not cover covod related issues for any bookings made after march this year...so I'm not sure if the guest has a leg to stand on. The guest is trying to request a change to the booking instead but because our pricing has increased and he also recieved an introductory discount (as we're new) the change will increase his overall price. Due to this being covid related we were happy to honour the same price but I don't know if we can accept the change and also alter the price somehow? Not sure if the guest should just cancel and then we can instead agree the new booking using the special offer system so we can send the same prices? We have a strict cancellation policy also so have no idea if its better for him to just do that and we carry the money over and discount it from the new booking? Please if anyone can advise, my head is hurting trying to get the answers using the air bnb resource center!!!

You have to perform the change yourself (not the guest).

Choose "change" option from the reservation, in the changeform you can change the dates, after that change the price (click in calculated pricefield and enter new price). Then sent it to the guest for confirmation.

@Emiel1 Thank you!!! We had a look at this but got worried as air bnb mention hosts shouldn't really do it so we thought we might get penalised. That's brilliant, can get it sorted without my head exploding now!!! Thank you again!!

To be honest if he want to change his dates I wouldn’t necessarily be looking to honour the same price.
