Local spooky stories and tales!

Hello everyone!

As it’s still spooky season for one last day, I wanted to make the most of it.

Whether it’s told around a campfire, or at home with candles burning, in my eyes there’s nothing better than the shivers from a good ghost story!

My local area is rich with lore about the old castles, abbeys and Roman roads.  Every town has a ghostly lady or gentleman that can be seen on a very clear, cold night!  In my hometown, there’s a historic home with portraits on each wall with eyes that follow you around the room.  There’s a lost Roman army who are said to roam the local hills.

What about where you live?  Are there local spooky stories and tales about where you are?  I’d love to hear about them, so please feel free to share your favourite spooky stories and tales in the replies!

My region  (northern/eastern part of The Netherlands) it is the home of the "Witte Wieven". These are female ghosts. There are different explanations for their "existence", some say they are the ghost of a witch, others say they originate from graves of wise women.
