Hello Hosts,
i am interested in meeting other hosts in my area. I have looked through this site and cannot figure out how to meet others near me. Is there something I am missing here? Feeling Dumb. Eileen
No t dumb!
You have "met" me - a good ways north of you, but both of us are in California with all its unique regulations and such.
If you are looking to meet locals in this business, may I suggest you look at the listings, do a local search. See how many there are, a sort of "market research." Look for or perhaps start a FB group? Take the lead that way? This CC is a diverse international group, and perhaps your local folk have not entered the conversations. Many people show up here because they have an issue, or, like you, are seeking to learn from this amazing peer group.
Stay in touch and let us all know how this goes!
@Kitty-and-Creek0 Great idea Kitty! I think I will start a facebook Cali AIRBNB group! I will PM you to join us! Eileen
@Kitty-and-Creek0 Happiest of Thanksgiving to you and your family as well Kitty!
@Eileen462 Look around for some local hosting groups! Don't feel dumb. My first experience renting was to a long term renter. I had just finished the renovations. We met face to face to interview each other. We didn't have a lease so I thought if it didn't work out could just ask them to leave. I was up front about everything, but a lot of little things became a huge hassle or conflict between us. I also wish I had handled some situations differently although we always worked things out. We are still friends. There are just a lot of little things that can be a big deal. I just had no clue about a lot of things. For example with no lease if the apartment was flooded from a hurricane I would need to put them up some place until it was repaired. Yikes. Almost everything I learned from googling. I must have read over 1000 topics here before hosting. But it takes some experience. For me it was a lot of work but at least its rented, and now know enough to handle almost any situation.
@John5097 Hi John good to see you and Happy Thanksgiving! I think I got lucky with these 2 ladies I thought were sketchy. They seem responsible and are very very clean. I know grandma has a serious drug past but grandaughter is responsible and just got a job with the post office. They want to stay for awhile so they booked a week, stayed and now another 10 days. Im happy sofar. I love hearing about your experiences! PM me anytime and lets chat! Smiles, Eileen
@Eileen462 Happy Thanksgiving! Thank for the update! So glad your two guest are working out and one got a job at the post office. It sounds like your place was the perfect place for them and you the perfect host. That's really inspiring. I've been in situations exactly like this mostly at work. That must be very rewarding being such a good influence. I'll def message. I had 4 days off so did a bunch of maintenance, mostly washing, painting. No drama and guest have been super nice for the past 6 weeks or so! So glad things are going well!
Hey everyone, I hope you're all well 😊 I just wanted to jump in and share a link to join the Local Host Club. You can connect with fellow hosts local to your area. You can share your experiences, exchange valuable knowledge and get advice. Here's the link where you can join: https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Local-Host-Clubs/ct-p/en_clubs
If there isn't a Local Host Club in your area, you can apply to launch one. Find out more information here: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/resources/hosting-homes/a/lead-your-local-host-club-293
I hope this helps!
Best wishes,
Sophia
