Minimum age to be host?

Minimum age to be host?

Hi Everyone,

I am coming up on my 10 year anniversary of being an Airbnb host. As I reflect back, I am filled with awe how hosting has changed my life and so many others around the world.

Airbnb has become the de facto choice for us whenever we book a place to stay and I have thoroughly enjoyed being a host over the years and met some incredible people all over the world staying with us.

It has been very difficult during then pandemic but I am hopeful that Airbnb and hosting will continue to thrive. I strongly believe short term hosting has lifted many out of poverty and have afforded  many others to travel more economically.

I decided to transfer my business to my 16 year old .  Our Airbnb is a family business and he is very excited about becoming an entrepreneur and running his own business.

I would love to hear other hosts if they passed on their Airbnb business to their children. Who knew Airbnb would be a platform to sustain multi-generational families?

I am so incredibly proud of my son for wanting to become an entrepreneur, work for himself, and to become independent.

It amazing feeling handing down a business to your child.

Proud Dad😀🙏

@Tim42  I'm sure your son is a mature fellow who will make an awesome host, but unfortunately he'll have to wait a couple years because the minimum age to have an Airbnb account (as guest or host) is 18.

Also, listings can't be transferred from one primary host account to another, and you don't want to lose all those great reviews! But I think you can change your profile to a family profile, just like the many contributors you see on here whose user ID is two spouses, etc.
