Music can heal the soul, or so they say! I’m willing to bet that no matter who you are, or where you are from, music is innately, deeply tied into your upbringing. Whether through religion, culture, anti-culture, sad times or happy times: so the list goes on..... it was there.
In many countries, there has been a recent, social phenomenon of non professional, group choirs.
One of the most popular in Australia, is “The Pub Choir.”
Before Covid19, the facilitators would advertise they would be at a particular town and venue on a certain day/date. For a small fee you could be guaranteed an entry, and you would be emailed the lyrics that they would be singing, so you could learn it in advance.
They are wonderful concepts for socialisation and well being. They would practise for awhile, then video record the final song and this would be placed on YouTube.
Those days are currently gone, for now...... 😞
BUT here is the latest release.
- The conductor is in an empty hall.
- The singers are all individual videos sent to the facilitator and all were included in the song.
PLEASE take the time to watch this heart lifting video, on the link below. We are all in this together!
Couch Choir - (They Long To Be) Close To You
Noting: this was created as social distancing MUST be practised.
Today in my country, pubs, clubs, casinos. restaurants and cafe services were closed under the direction of the federal government. Restaurants can only do take away orders....
@Cathie19 Thank you Cathie .:)
Thats really beautiful and uplifting .
I hope it catches on 🙂
Kia Kaha and stay safe.

I cry every time I watch it @Kath9 . I think it gives us the opportunity to really feel the impending social loss and the uncertainty around us. It allows us to let go..... which is healing.
I hope all is going well during your mother son bonding. So lucky he is already back with you. My neighbour has had her sons flight cancelled three times, that I know... 😞
But, I will continue to watch it, because the human spirit is so wonderful when not clouded by greed and hate. X
Let's do it @Cathie19 !! Get us organised (and we can rope in the other languages too!)
I think @Stephanie , it will take someone with more I.T. capabilities, and ability to upload such a large file. Along with a few musically capable individuals to create the core of the sound and conducting. But with fun! But we could?
What general and well known songs would be uplifting, we’ll know, without a copyright license that would stop its use?
@Cathie19 I'll manage the tech side! Perhaps we can do something a bit different than singing because I know a lot of people are very anxious about singing in public, what do you think?
Let’s put it out there... There are a zillion talents out there, just hanging around going stir crazy. But tell @Laura_C we all have to film in the same format! Lol.....
Aww I love this @Cathie19. A friend of mine has been hosting her choir practice via an online meetup.
I was talking to @Stephanie yesterday about how nice it might be to do something like our festival of hospitality video, but maybe we could do it via an online meetup.
Let the creative juices and ideas flow - what do others think?

Music's impact on our lives is profound and universal. It has the power to uplift, unite, and heal, making it a fundamental part of our shared human experience. Non-professional group choirs, like "The Pub Choir" in Australia, offer a unique way for people to come together, socialize, and experience the joy of music.
The latest release from Couch Choir, "(They Long To Be) Close To You," exemplifies this spirit of togetherness, even when physically apart. The conductor in an empty hall and individual singers in their own videos remind us that despite the current challenges, we are all connected through music.
The video serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the power of music to bring us together, even in the most challenging times.
