I was refunded 50 percent of the total, but the service charge was kept by the host. The wording on the cancelation policy did not make this clear. It is completely outrageous that the host should keep the service charge policy. I would like that refunded to me.
@Maria12731 The cancellation policy that you agreed to when you booked is displayed in your confirmation email. Did it say Flexible, Moderate, or Strict?
@Maria12731 The host did not and could not keep the service charge. The service charge is what Airbnb charges on top of the host's fee. Plus Airbnb deducts a percentage fromwhat the host receives, so they grab your money both ways.
Airbnb charges the service fee. They kept your money. Think of all the hundreds of thousands of service fees they have kept after a reservation is canceled. Many, many hosts do not receive anything at all from a cancelation.
